Things I love about my life!

Hmmm, does anyone else get the five star treatment like I do when I come home from work?! ! My wonderful hubby always has my coffee ready for me when I walk thru the door. True, some of you are saying, well he's retired. But even when he was working, he would have my coffee ready every afternoon. What a great husband and I truly love him! I love coming home in the evenings and Glenn being there when I get there. I love the fact that all of the kids live within 15 minutes of us. I also love having lunch every Sunday with all the family. I know that I keep going on and on about that but that is one of the highlights of our week. I love my house, for one thing it is paid for, another is that it is big enough to hold all of us but small enough to clean easily. I love the front porches, we have had so much fun gathering and talking on those porches since they have been built. I love having 5 kids. 3 girls and 2 boys. That is exactly what I had growing up. 3 girls and 2 boys. I love those grand kids with every fiber of my being. I love God for giving me all of these blessings. Sometimes it is good to just stop and as they say, "smell the roses". I have been asking God every day to give me the strength to stay positive at work. Sometimes work can be a place where you really don't want to be so its hard to be positive. I want to be a positive person as much as I can so I am praying about that. Glenn is taking me on date night tonight to the movies and out to eat. Hip hip hooray! Well, I guess I better get ready.

Getting ready for Sunday!

Well, I have finished the first week back to work after Christmas holidays. This has been a really long and hard week. I helped with interviews for a position, balanced bank statements, closed December, opened January and did 3 check prints. I had a lot going on this week. But I am sitting here in a nice clean house (did that earlier) and thinking about getting up to cook Sunday lunch today so that all I have to do is heat it up. Glenn had a little bit of an adjustment this week, he has had a lot of company for the past 2 weeks with several of us off. But he does enjoy his time alone so it only took him a day to get back into his routine. Me, I am still trying to get adjusted to leaving the house every morning. One great thing about Glenn's retirement has been that he and his Dad have been going every week to buy groceries together. They have got their routine down and I think that they both really enjoy it. I know that Glenn really does. We got a new puppy today. He is brown and white. Katie & Collin had to come home with us to make sure that the puppy felt at home here, since we got the puppy from here. Collin's basketball game was fun this morning & he has really improved since last year. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. We are working the nursery in the morning. I really miss hearing Bro. Bruce speak but I know that we are needed in the nursery. Already January, life is going by so quickly! My prayer today is to be more content. Well, off to the shop, Glenn says the puppy really doesn't like it out there by himself. (I have a feeling that he may end up in the house tonight) Have a great weekend.

Not as bad as I thought

Well, it is now Thursday, more than half way through the first week back after Christmas vacation. Not as bad as I thought. It seems like we always think that things are going to be worse than they turn out to be. Another trust issue, I guess. God always knows best but sometimes its hard to let go and let Him be in charge. I pray that this year I will be able to let Him be totally in charge. I want to become more like Him and to be able to do this, I need to study and pray more to stay close to Him. I have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish on Sundays but here it is Thursday and I really haven't done anything. Glenn keeps telling me that he needs to develop self discipline since he is retired. Maybe I need that also! Before I know it my week is over. Okay, I am off of here and I am getting something done. Okay, maybe it will only be getting ready for work and straightening up the kitchen but you have to start somewhere. Have a great day!

Grandkids

2 Days before I go back to work

I have been trying to keep my mind off of Monday coming but it is hard to not think of it. It's not that I don't really like my job but I have had such a good time being off the last 2 weeks. Glenn went deer hunting this morning by himself but didn't see anything. After he took a short nap, we decided we were going to cut one of the big trees down in the pasture. That was hard. I had to put Glenn up in the tractor to be able to reach to cut the tree. I didn't think we would ever get it done but success. We did it. Now we are going to rest and just watch movies. Tomorrow, Sunday lunch. Pork chops and rice, stew, and hamburger meat with ranch style beans. I love Sunday lunches with everyone here. Time to watch a movie.

Reflections on last year

2009, it is hard to believe that we are already in 2009. This last year has just flown by. We have had a lot of things that we accomplished in this past year. We had a large front porch across the front of our house. That has been one of the best remodeling ideas that we have had. It changed the entire look of the house. It has been wonderful to sit on the porches on Sunday and just visit with family. Another remodeling job that turned out excellent. Glenn and I laid ceramic tile in our dining room, kitchen and bathroom. That was an experience!! But it turned out wonderful. In the middle of the remodeling, we had a storm and all of the electricity went off in our area for about a week. I had the kitchen and dining room torn up and my dining room table was in my living room. Allie, Zach and Brady came and stayed with us. We had a generator so Shannon and her family came also. We had a great time, but also stressful. There was no way to clean or be organized and that drives me nuts! But we made it through that and the tile looks great. We also carpeted the living room. For those of you that have been to our house know about our hump that was between the living room and kitchen. The carpet installers were able to work on that hump before they carpeted and thank goodness, the dreaded hump is gone. It is like a miracle. It is now level between the kitchen and living room. YEA!! We also built a shop. It turned out wonderful. The grand kids actually think that Grandpa built it for them to skate and ride bikes in, but that's okay. He will eventually run the electricity and fill that shop up. I am sure it will also be a place that the guys can gather. Let's see, what else happened in this last year? Our Sunday lunches have grown to include Mimi and Bomp (Glenn's parents) and we have enjoyed having them. We love our Sunday lunches. Everyone gets along so well. We had birthdays to celebrate, retirement to celebrate. Well, I could write an entire blog about the retirement. That has been a wonderful thing. We laughed and cried this year with each other. We hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful new year. My resolution is not to make any resolution. I plan to grow closer to God, be more of an example for the kids, be more considerate and just live life to its fullest. Oh yeah, I want to travel, travel, travel.

Chucky Cheese (yes, you are never too old)

If you want a fun day, go to Chucky Cheese with some of the grand kids. We had a blast yesterday. Collin was all over the place trying to collect as many of those little tickets as he could. Katie was playing everything she could find and was not even interested in eating. Shannon and Katie were the last to eat their pizza. Glenn, Grayson, Hudson and myself were the first to dig into the pizza. Grayson has always told us "Chucky Cheese is my favorite place to go" even though he had never been there before. I think he dragged Grandpa to every game to play. Hudson and I stayed at the game where you can throw the balls into the holes and get tickets. He loved just rolling the ball up and down the lane and I could grab one every little bit and get to play also. On the way over, Grayson entertained Grandpa and myself with his non stop dialogue from the back seat. At one time, he asked me if we were going north, if so, that was the correct direction because that was where Santa lived. Grayson also told Grandpa after he finished explaining something to him that he (Grayson) would need to write that down. Where does this kid come up with all of this??? We called the oldest grand kids but to my surprise (ha, ha) they were still asleep. We wanted them to come also but I have a feeling they would have been bored. Allie thought Brady would be too little and she was probably right. They didn't have many games for the little ones and Hudson was borderline. Good times and good memories. It brought back memories of me taking the older grand kids to Chucky Cheese. Back then, Glenn was working so he couldn't come. I'm glad he is able to come now.
